Choose Obedience Despite Your Fears
“Lord,” Ananias answered, “I have heard many reports about this man and all the harm he has done to your holy people in Jerusalem. And he has come here with authority from the chief priests to arrest all who call on your name.”
But the Lord said to Ananias, “Go! This man is my chosen instrument to proclaim my name to the Gentiles and their kings and to the people of Israel.”
In reading this scripture, it puts me in the mindset of corporate america. In these environments we are told not to speak about religion or God. On the other hand, God wants us to share the goodness of Him and His word. Seems like we have a problem on our hands huh! because corporate America puts the fear in us that if we speak on God or religion, we will be fired. No problem at all.
FEAR
Much like Ananias and how he heard about what Saul did to all who claimed Jesus as their Lord, we are much like that. We step on a job and in the fine print or on a new hire video, we hear about what would happen if we speak about Jesus. First off! That’s not our battle to fight.
Mind you, that job is not our provider, God is! The job is our resource to being obedient to God and speak about the goodness of Jesus and to save souls with all Glory and honor belonging to Him.
OBEDIENCE
Instead of focusing on the fear that Ananias had for Saul, he instead focused on being obedient to God and as a result, Saul was healed and then baptized. Now I understand that it’s easier said than done but let us all not be so focused on being afraid of being fired or for that matter, focused on anything negative and let’s be more focused on being obedient to God by not keeping the goodness of the Lord to ourselves but to broadcast the goodness of the Lord to the world every chance we get. Despite where we are or who we work for.
