From the time I was seventeen until the age of thirty-four I smoked cigarettes off and on. I tried many times to stop on my own but couldn’t. It wasn’t until I started praying about quitting when I saw results. I prayed to the point where I was praying as I was lighting up the cigarette and smoking at the same time. one day, I thought I wanted it and after taking a couple of puffs I threw it out and never had the desire to smoke again.

God used this experience in my life because he knew that I would be a testimony for someone else. I never thought that I could quit but the Lord showed me himself through this situation.

In Acts 9:17(NIV) Ananias went to the house and entered it. Placing his hands on Saul, he said Brother Saul, the Lord- Jesus, who appeared to you on the road as you were coming here has sent me so that you may see again and be filled with the Holy Spirit.

God will use people, places and things to open your eyes for his glory. Like, Ananias didn’t understand why the Lord was sending him after hearing all that Saul did against the people of God but God had already chosen Saul to do his work.

There might be a time in your life where you didn’t understand why the Holy Spirit sent you to do something you didn’t want to do because you were afraid. I challenge you like in David chapter 3 when Shadrach, Meshach and Abednego would not serve King Nebuehadnezzar and because of that they were thrown into the fiery furnace but the God that they served was right there with them the whole time and the were not harmed but were praised in the end.

So, I say to you go forth and do the works of the Lord even if you can’t see why because the Lord will show you through his Holy Spirit. Pray for peace that passes all understanding and don’t worry about how it looks. The Holy Spirit just might have you looking crazy but I promise you it’s for God’s glory in the end.
